MS-CC Program Manager, Collaboratory in Climate Science

About MS-CC

The Minority Serving - Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) envisions a transformational partnership to promote advanced cyberinfrastructure capabilities at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). The MS-CC recently received additional funding through its Proof-of-Concept Grant (PoCG) program to develop a Collaboratory in Climate Science, and is searching for an enthusiastic, collaborative and dynamic Program Manager who can collaborate with faculty, staff, and students at HBCUs and TCUs to successfully deliver communications and program activities driven by the primary goal of making a significant, positive difference in the awareness, access, and use of cyberinfrastructure resources for Climate Science research at HBCU and TCUs. Role Description

The Program Manager will work in close collaboration with the MS-CC PoCG Team to support the development and logistics of internships, meetings, workshops, and other programming focused on climate science.

 The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Development and coordination of the programmatic activities for student and faculty, and the coordination of a steering committee, including but not limited to campus-based internship programs and training.  
  • Coordinating small to medium scale workshops and conferences.
  • Proposing and developing solutions to improve program quality and/or efficiency.
  • Assessing the strengths and gaps in preparing students and faculty for participation in the activities supported by the Collaboratory.
  • Tracking of program tasks, milestones, and coordination of the steering committee and the various program-specific events.

 Required qualifications: 

  • Degree in Business Administration or STEM related field. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • A minimum of 4 years of work experience in program management within higher education or a non-profit organization, with a focus on program implementation, customer service and outreach activities. 
  • A deep commitment to improving access and inclusion within higher education technology.
  • Ability to travel to HBCU and/or TCU campuses 7-10 days per month.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • HBCU or TCU alumnus or direct experience working at HBCUs and/or TCUs.
  • Experience leading the coordination and logistics for university internship programs.
  • Familiarity with climate science programs.
  • Experience supporting complex, multi-institutional collaborations.
