The Intenational Barcode of Life is a research alliance that provides a reference library of DNA barcodes for >9 million species of fauna, flora & fungi; tracking ecosystems and revealing symbiomes. The consortium has developed two programs: BARCODE 500K in 2015, which barcoded 500,000 species reflecting the investment of $150 million by research organizations in 25 nations and BIOSCAN, which focuses on three research themes: employ DNA barcodes to speed species discovery, to probe species interactions, and to track species dynamics
