With a network of acoustic sensors, the Australian Acoustic Observatory works to collect, process and provide acoustic data that informs biodiversity monitoring. The observatory sensors collect acoustic recordings, site information, such as vegetation cover, landform, disturbance and photopoints, which is then stored on the cloud, processed and made available to researchers, citizen scientists, and the general public. The Australian Acoustic Observatory leads in collaborative research with an acoustic sensor network, recording for a five-year period across multiple Australian ecosystems.
