Overview  

The TanDEM-X mission (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) opened a new era of spaceborne radar remote sensing. It is the world's first bistatic SAR mission to be formed with two almost identical satellites flying in a closely controlled formation with typical distances between 250 and 500 meters. The main objective of the mission is to generate a consistent global digital elevation model with unprecedented accuracy. If a large site is needed several DEMs can be downloaded and merged in GIS.
