The awards, generously supported by Microsoft, aim to cover registration fees (early bird rate) and a contribution towards travels costs to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the successful applicants. Up to 3 awards will be granted, subject to number and quality of applications. Maximum amount per award: US$1500.
The awards will be granted to applicants developing innovative conservation technology solutions or implementing impactful applications of conservation technology. At least one of the grants will go to someone who is using AI/machine learning. We (Microsoft & the SCB ConsTech WG) are particularly interested in supporting applicants who are underrepresented in this field (e.g. women, geographic regions, demonstrated financial need).
Application
To apply for these awards, upon abstract acceptance, please submit the following to the SCB ConsTech WG:
- Abstract and notification of acceptance
- 1-page cover letter, explaining: (i) why the work you present is an innovative development or application of technology for conservation, (ii) your reasons for attending ICCB2019, (iii) statement of how you’ll benefit from this award to come to ICCB.
- 1-page CV
- A budget, indicating applicable registration fees and estimated transportation costs
Applications will be reviewed by the SCB ConsTech WG and Microsoft. All applicants will be informed about the outcome of their application via email, and awardees announced widely. Grantees will be asked to write a blog post about their experience at ICCB.
