Biodiversa+ and GBIF are pleased to invite you to a one-day symposium on the margins of the 29th meeting of the GBIF Governing Board (GB29).

Participants will discuss the needs for and challenges to obtaining reliable biodiversity information to inform decision-making. This symposium presents an opportunity to recognise the urgency of actions, reflect on the values shared by key initiatives and bodies, and spark dialogue around how and where complementary action can work together more effectively.

Structure of Event

The day will be structured into three sessions that each address several perspectives on a single theme from a series of speakers. The day will conclude with all speakers convening for a panel discussion. Each speaker will have 12-15 minutes to present, followed by 5 minutes for questions. All panellists will join for a panel discussion and open dialogue at the end of the sessions. The event will be livestreamed for those unable to attend on the day.

The event will be livestreamed for anyone wishing to follow it, but in-person attendance is restricted to invited participants and delegates at the 29th meeting of the GBIF Governing Board (register here), due to limited space.
