Marine Stewardship Council offering up to £50,000 for projects using electronic monitoring

Hello,

I'm the Science Comms Manager at the MSC. I want to let you all know about our Ocean Stewardship Fund which opened for applications on the 8 October 2020, and close on 6 January 2021.

We have five grants available, with the Science and Research Fund, Student Research Grant and the Innovation Fund being most applicable to this audience. The Science and Research Fund invites innvoative research proposals that help MSC certified fisheries close certain conditions. This year's themes are harvest control rules/harvest strategy improvements and sources of bait. Up to £50,000 is available under this strand.

The Student Fund offers postgraduate students who are working with fisheries in comprehensive FIPs, MSC pathway projects (stage 4), fisheries verified through our In-Transition to MSC program and certified fisheries the opportunity to fund their studies of up to £5,000.

The Innovation Fund is asking for expressions of interest from organisations around improving best practice and the safety of observers aboard fishing vessels. Electronic monitoring tools have been proposed as a potential research area, among others. Up to £50,000 is available for this strand.
