Picking up signal of GPS tag

Hi all! Has anyone been able to collect any ID information from a GPS tag, by circling above with a drone? Thinking about FAD detection at sea.

Thanks!

I believe Wildlife Drones does this? Though there's is more focused on radio-telemetry rather than GPS. But the folks there probably people doing it with GPS too. @Wildlife_Drones @Debbie_Saunders

Only have a solution for on land using Ceres Tags devices and a software of your choice.

If you head to 2:21/16:00 in the YouTube link below. This is current for land. We are looking to water environments in the future

Hey Sol,

The only way for you to collect information from a GPS tag attached to a FAD is if that tag transmits that data to the drone. Unfortunately most receiver packages are a bit too large for hobbyist-style drones (from what I've seen).

Depending on the range/distance from shore, you might be able to have a shore-based receiver system?
