Hello all! I'm a final-year MEng Aerospace Engineering student starting my final year this coming autumn. I want my final-year project to solve a genuinely useful problem in conservation, rather than just being an academic exercise. I have a strong background in mathematics, analysis, and GIS.
Before I commit to a direction, I'd love to hear from the community about where monitoring, surveying, or data collection actually gets stuck?
I'm particularly interested in problems involving things like:
- Drone survey data that's hard or time-consuming to process or analyse
- Areas or species that cannot be adequately monitored due to terrain, cost, or access
- GIS or spatial data that gets collected but underused
- Any repetitive tasks that it would be beneficial to automate
- Non-invasive tracking and data collection
