Thanks to everyone who joined the Variety Hour this morning! I definitely bit off about 3x more than I could chew in terms of fitting content into 15 minutes, but hopefully I got far enough to get people excited to start building stuff with AI (if you aren't already building stuff with AI).
Fortunately after the main session ended, we also got to chat about some of the examples later in my slides that actually had wildlife in them, but just in case anyone was left thinking "Dan sure seems excited about AI coding, but how does this possibly connect to wildlife?", I put my slides here.
Also as I mentioned at the end of my talk, we're still trying to figure out the right way to get the whole community involved in vibe coding parties (or something like them). These are basically semi-structured practice sessions where everyone does their own thing, but we share and trade experiences and best practices related to building things with AI. I find them to be super-useful (and fun!), but I think they stop working well if the numbers get too large: they are best when they're a space when everyone - novice or expert - feels comfortable chiming in with random questions/demos/etc., and that doesn't quite work in a call with 100 people.
But... if you are interested in joining a vibe coding party, please drop me an email ( [email protected] ). If only 10 people email me, then I'm over-thinking this problem and I'll just pick a date and we'll have a WILDLABS vibe coding party. If lots of people express interest, that's a good problem to have and we'll figure something out.
Maybe even better, post here if you want to run a vibe coding party! Especially since these are synchronous events and time zones exist (I usually do these at either 7am PT or 8am PT), it would be great to see others run these too.
