I hope this is the first of many posts advertising workshops or conference sessions at the ICTC... shamelessly self-plagiarizing this post to/from other platforms.
For folks attending the International Conservation Technology Conference in Peru in February, if you are interested in working on your AI coding skills in a room with like-minded conservation technology practitioners, consider joining our "vibe coding party" pre-conference workshop on Monday February 16th, from 2pm-6pm local time. Registration link is here.
"Coding" is a bit of a misnomer: this is as much for non-coders as it is for coders, we just want to help everyone take one step along their journey toward doing stuff - especially building stuff - with AI. We will follow the general structure of previous vibe coding parties: before the workshop, we'll encourage participants to think through things they might want to build (and to share their ideas with the group), and we'll give pointers re: tools we might recommend, but mostly the focus is semi-structured, hopefully-very-social "practice time" during the event.
Those of you who know me know that I never go anywhere, so I will be co-organizing virtually, but @laurenharrell and @timmh will be leading on site. Priority will be given to in-person participants, but if you are interested in participating remotely, we may have room for some virtual participants, so consider filling out the form even if you won't be there in person.
And as excited as I am about having lots of conservation tech folks in the same room for this, don't wait for this event to practice your AI-building-stuff skills: consider organizing your own vibe coding parties for your peer groups; take a look at the suggested structure that has worked well so far. And let me know if you're organizing a vibe coding party I can crash!
