Well, this has been a year!
It started (as most years do) with great intentions and enthusiasm from the Open Source Solutions group leaders. We were excited to bring a stellar round-up of talks from amazing folks making open source technologies a reality. However, for each of us, this year got ahead of us almost as soon as it began. Here we are at the end of the year and wondering how we can do better next year.
I feel like this problem is looking for an Open Source Solution. As the saying goes, when you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
We appreciate everyone who participated in our Open Source Solutions Group Survey (see results here!). We heard you loud and clear that networking and community connection were the top priorities.
And then life got nuts.
As we reflect on this past year– we find ourselves (as group leaders) wanting the same thing we did a year ago, and asking for a fresh start. Our initial goals were to post a user survey (check!!) and host virtual events based on what YOU wanted. We apologise for falling short on this effort, but there is no time like the present!
And this is where this hammer goes looking for a nail.
Since we are Open Source Solutions: How about we open source this problem? We want to hear from you - if we host the first session in a month or so, what do you think? Should this be a periodic thing? Would you want opportunities to connect with those closer to where you live, or with people from the other side of the world? Please comment below with ideas for structure or offers to help get this off the ground!!
We’re excited for what’s to come!
