Solar powered thermal wolf monitor

My solar powered thermal+visible local AI wolf monitoring system has been running 4 1/2 months in the field now. I've only had to take the battery back to charge it one time when the panel was covered with snow for several days. The system triggers of thermal image motion detection and then starts AI recognition.

It addition to event detection it's recording 14/7 in full frame video plus audio sound track on both thermal and video camera modules. The camera modules are very low light modules that can film in color around 3/4 hour before sunrise and after sunset.

I'm regularly getting very interesting footage of the wolves, this mornings footage was particularly interesting. Worth sharing I think.

It’s 5 months now and I’ve collected more than 60 videos of wolves. It’s survived the worst that winter was able to throw at it. In Belgium….

Anyway. Exciting news. Hopefully within a month I’ll be able to collect thermal video in 1280x1024 resolution. It's on its way.

Anyway I’m sure that this is the largest camera trap you’ve ever seen 😀 But it’s all worth it,  it can stay in the field indefinitely, downloading its video and images remotely.

Self sufficient wolf monitor

I’m starting to document my projects now on my new website. More details to come.

Hi, Kim,

This is really cool!

It seems to me that there are at least two different wolves in this video (Feb 7). Does your AI system identifies individuals?
