I've just recently received a halow wifi bridge set. The pair I ordered claims up to 3km operation line of sight. Now I suspect that 2km line of sight might be more what one could expect. But with one central unit and two client units maybe you can bridge somewhere between 3-6km of distance in two hops ? I'll test the achieveable distance and report on it in another discussion if anyone is interested.
In the meantime, here I have connected the halow wifito my camera trap unit that is triggering on local AI plus motion detection with a 640x512 resolution thermal camera module. Alerting with both thermal images and low light visible light. And recording h264 quicktimes continuously in both thermal and viisble. It can also ellicit a response with USB connected relay support.
The low light module I'm using in conjunction with this is imx678 based, which can start to see around 35 minutes before sunrise. but I'm expecting to receive shortly some modules based on the Sony imx585, which might be the most sensitive camera modules available. The imx585 based modules will be significantly better than the one I'm using currently for visible light.
Luke Ditria has the first outdoor footage videos that really show the capability of this new module. Kudos Luke! Also check out his YouTube channel for this, just google his name.

Thanks for sharing! I've been thinking about using WiFi links for some applications. Any idea how much power they require?

Cool!
makes me think of your other posting about shared/"extra" inferencing on a Jetson compute board , if edge sensors could just stream low fps stuff point-point back to it...
