It's with a heavy heart that I'm announcing my departure from WILDLABS. My last day is November 19, and as my time here comes to a close, I want to say thank you. 

To the WILDLABS community: Thank you for making our jobs possible. We do it all for you. Your generosity, dedication, innovation, warmth, and spunk means I went to work every day excited and energized. You're making a difference in the world and having fun doing it. Thank you for letting me nag you about the network survey, sharing your knowledge and perspectives with grace and kindness, and being the best community out there. It's rare you find a genuinely heartwarming place on the internet anymore, but we've done it, thanks to you. (With the exception of all those voodoo people that spammed the website that one time.)

 

To my Variety Hour guests and attendees: Thank you for showing up, asking questions, and being willing to share your work. You're the highlight of my month. I love bringing the community together to learn, be curious, and have fun. It wasn't always smooth (Nothing beats the rush of not knowing if the theme music is going to play or not. The feeling of finding an error in your quiz live is incomparable.) Variety Hour sometimes felt like the beating heart of this community, seeing people's faces and watching collaborations unfold live. I had so much fun organizing and facilitating it, but it wouldn't have been half as fun without you.

 

To my group leaders: Thank you for coming on this journey with me. When we launched the program in 2024, we had a vision of volunteers helping to grow and strengthen the groups on WILDLABS. It was unclear how the program would grow, if there would be interest, and what kind of impact it would have on the sector. After building it from the ground up and working with you all to define it, I'm confident that it's been a success. You've made an impact on this sector, and you had fun doing it. It's been a pleasure to guide you and provide support as you become the community leaders this sector needs. Thank you for experimenting with me, joining catch-up calls, and putting yourselves out there to be the face of your community. You make my job so much more fun.

 

To the WILDLABS team: Thank you for being you. None of this would be possible without your dedication, passion, and brains. Our jobs are crazy sometimes (read: a lot of the time). But we hold on to each other, we get through it, and we come out of it building a stronger, kick-a** program with impactful community projects, research, and support initiatives. You're innovative, kind, supportive, and put the community above all else. You're building something amazing here, and I cannot wait to see how WILDLABS grows and evolves in the years to come.
