Soliciting first Executive Director of MD4SG/EAAMO

We're looking for nominations (or self-nominations) for an Executive Director for Mechanism Design for Social Good, an academic research initiative focused on computational solutions to issues impacting historically marginalized communities.

Deadline: 8 August 2023 - the deadline has passed.
New York City, US and remote

Hi WILDLABS community!

One academic community I'm heavily involved with is Mechanism Design for Social Good (MD4SG), a global research community that focuses on bridging research and practice, including with the EAAMO conference. There's also an Environment working group with computer scientists, economists, ecologists, and practitioners.

Similar to WILDLABS, MD4SG and EAAMO are focused on building partnerships, interdisciplinary work, and conducting research that is useful to real-world challenges, with a focus on improving access to opportunity for historically marginalized communities.

MD4SG/EAAMO are excited to solicit applications for our very first Executive Director for the non-profit organization. The formation of this role is part of an ongoing effort to create mechanisms to sustain growth, scale up governance, and support current and new programming.

The Executive Director role will be focused on four key areas:

  1. Strategy — in conjunction with the Board and outside consultants, develop a strategic plan and vision statement for the organization
  2. Infrastructure — build and professionalize the internal processes for managing the nonprofit
  3. Fundraising — develop and deepen relationships with both key existing funders and new supporters
  4. Program development — expand the organization’s programmatic reach, especially in disciplines outside of computer science and in regions outside North America and Europe

Please nominate strong candidates for Executive Director of EAAMO by August 5. Self-nominations are also welcome.

We have tentative funding support for a one- or two-year US-based postdoc (PhD in any discipline) to begin September 2023 or January 2024, or faculty sabbatical with flexible start time. However, we welcome nominations of candidates with a variety of backgrounds and past involvement with MD4SG or EAAMO.
