WWF's latest pilot project, ManglarIA, or "AI for mangroves" in Spanish, uses artificial intelligence, drones, and sensor networks to monitor mangrove health along Mexico's coast. Using advanced technology, we are able to track everything from carbon storage to recovery after hurricanes. With support from Google.org and leadership from local communities, this initiative is generating critical data to guide climate-smart, science-based conservation around the globe.
