Ambiance is a automated, solar-powered playback speaker that broadcasts acoustic treatments on pre-specified schedules in remote field conditions. They are germane to any species that respond to auditory stimulus, can be deployed in a variety of biomes, and are robust to most weather conditions. In a basic ecological research context, they would be deployed as point sources or systematic grids to establish an accoustic treatment and then paired with camera traps, collars/biologgers, or other technologies to measure relevant variables. In a conservation/HWC context, they can be deployed as virtual fences or villages to keep focal species out of undesirable areas (e.g., farms, corrals, poaching areas, etc.)
