BioCLIP is a multimodal model trained to analyze biological images, providing a tool for species classification, habitat identification, and trait prediction. The first model was trained on the TreeOfLife-10M dataset, which includes a diverse set of images from plants, animals, and fungi. BioCLIP 2, trained on TreeOfLife-200M goes beyond simple classification, exhibiting emergent properties, such as distinguishing between life stages, sexes, and aligning embeddings with ecological traits like beak size.
