Read moreKelpwatch is a great visualisation tool that uses satellite data to track kelp forest dynamics from 1984 to 2025,+. Currently only available for specific geographic areas (Southern Africa, Argentina, Peru, Alaska, Russia..). Statistics are presented as a timeseries that shows the kelp area and % kelp coverage in your area of interest and you can download the stats for further analysis. Some of the vector/raster data is available to download by following the links on the main website or by contacting directly the authors. Looking forward to seeing how Kelpwatch evolves in the future with the addition of data for new geographic areas.
