Read moreIn the Orcasound hydrophone network, we've used both Raspberry Pi 3B+ and Raspberry Pi 4 single board computers. Overall, I'm very impressed with their reliability, running our "orcanode" streaming software 24/7 for years on end, often in enclosures that are close to the ocean. Usually the SD card fails before the Pi does!
My only wish is for some real audio capabilities out-of-the-box. Depressingly, all they offer is a headphone jack! As a consequence, to answer our science and PAM questions related to orcas, we've paired the RPis with the Pisound ADC HAT (Hardware Attached on Top), made in Lithuania and capable of digitizing 2 audio channels at 48/96/192kHz and 24 bit depth.Read less
