NewtCAM observations

NewtCAM is an underwater camera trap. Devices are getting deployed worldwide in the frame of the CAMPHIBIAN project and thanks to the support of our kind early users. Here an outcome from the UK.

I like this single frame (out of the video shared here) showing such diversity of taxa. Beyond newts (originally targeted in the development of the NewtCAM), we can see several invertebrates such as larvae of Mayfly (genus Baetis?) and damselflies, Gammarus shrimp, and even guess the presence of smaller organisms such as Daphnia or Cyclops, ghost midge larvae, Chironomidae?... Aquatic invertebrates is not my speciality...

Many thanks to all NewtCAM field testers, I can't wait to see the rest of the season!
