This course presents the fundamentals of acoustics, equipment, methods, and theoretical and practical considerations required to monitor marine environments using passive acoustics. It analyzes sources of anthropophony, geophony, and biophony, and presents applications related to noise measurement, cetacean monitoring, and the measurement of anthropogenic sources. The course is open to physicists, engineers, biologists, ecologists, and other specialists with an interest in the subject.
