We’re excited to announce that one of our core partners in ICTC, UTEC, is providing space for pre-conference workshops on February 16 and 17, 2026, ahead of the core conference days of ICTC. Recognized as a leading hub of innovation and sustainability, UTEC is driving technological solutions that bridge research, industry, and community impact across Latin America. From its modern coastal campus in Lima, UTEC applies its strong engineering and technology focus to tackle real-world challenges, including conservation.
UTEC recently opened the Amazon Sustainability Research Institute (ASRI), a new lab dedicated specifically to innovating on conservation challenges. Building on a long history of Amazon-related projects, ASRI fosters close collaboration among international academic partners, field practitioners, and UTEC faculty to co-create a joint research agenda aligned with time-sensitive needs and opportunities in the Amazon rainforest. Available Spaces
A variety of dedicated spaces on UTEC’s campus will be available for ICTC participants to organize and host their own workshops before the conference. Some include:
- Auditorium: A large venue for over 300 people
- UTEC Ventures: A mid-size space for up to 60 people
- Garage Concept: A bare bones, customizable space for up to 70 people
- A302: An intimate space for 30 people
What We’re Looking For
Workshops are designed to foster collaboration among communities of practice in the lead-up to ICTC core event days. They provide a space for participants to exchange knowledge, build skills, and advance specific topics or themes in conservation technology.
Each workshop should be interactive and participant-driven, offering opportunities for shared learning, hands-on problem-solving, or advancing collective initiatives. Examples might include:
- Hosting a meeting or training for an established user community or interest group
- Developing shared standards, frameworks, or open-source tools
- Building capacity in specific technologies (e.g., AI for conservation, drone monitoring, acoustic sensors)
- Strengthening regional or thematic communities of practice
Please note that pre-conference workshops are intended to be designed and organised by the applicants and take place prior to the main conference programming. If you’re interested in engaging with ICTC participants through smaller, interactive discussions, please submit a session proposal.
We are grateful for their partnership and generosity to host pre-conference workshops, and for their leadership in advancing innovation for nature. The collaborations, discussions, and workshops held at UTEC prior to ICTC will help set the foundation for a more meaningful and strategically aligned conference.
