The seed funding provided by Arms assisted in pursuing research on the electric rhino fence effects on other wildlife species in Loisaba Conservancy. This project will provide insight into how the design of the fence affects other species in terms of breakages, mortalities on the fence and behaviors displayed on the fence and corridors.
This project will provide a needed evaluation of a porous fence model that, if effective, may improve the management of conservation areas for multiple species of conservation concern. The methodology that has been used is the use of camera traps and flagging of the fence. Additionally, this funding will also be used to attend conferences for sharing of results.
