This position will work at the interface of animal tracking and conservation management. They will help coordinate the tracking of bird migration through ICARUS tags on a variety of species across North America. The position will also work with conservation managers (state, federal, NGO) to understand their data processing and analysis needs associated with tracking data. This will include holding workshops or interviews with managers and sharing this information with the programming team at Movebank to create analytical tools useful for on-the-ground conservation.
Required: BS in ecology, wildlife management, data analytics, computer programming, or related field. Be a people person with good communication skills. Be self-motivated, able to prioritize, multi-task and complete projects.
Preferred: MS degree. Experience with applied conservation programs, animal tracking data, North American Birds, Program R, GIS, web development.
Salary: $35,000/yr. + health insurance
Term: one year with possibility for renewal.
Location: Biodiversity Lab, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh, NC (preferred), or working remotely.
