The Diopsis insect camera is an automated monitoring system for insects, providing autonomous data collection at all locations and a way to monitor the numbers and biomass of different insect species. It comprises a digital camera, computer with software, battery, and screen for flying insects to land on with LED lights to attract them at night. The camera takes an image every 10 seconds day and night. The images are transferred to a central server via a data connection where they are analysed. In addition to flying insects, the camera system may also be used to monitor crawling insects and invertebrates.
