eBird is an online database of bird observations providing scientists, researchers and amateur naturalists with real-time data about bird distribution and abundance. Originally restricted to sightings from the Western Hemisphere, the project expanded to include New Zealand in 2008, and to cover the whole world in June 2010. eBird data document bird distribution, abundance, habitat use, and trends through checklist data collected within a simple, scientific framework. eBird’s free mobile app allows offline data collection anywhere in the world, and the website provides many ways to explore and summarize your data and other observations from the global eBird community.

The best app for tracking and recording birds. eBird is also a fantastic research tool with data available upon request. Highly recommended!
