Overview

A collection of self-build electronics projects for bat scientists, ecologists and enthusiasts.

π•pistrelle is a handheld bat detector and full-spectrum recorder, pippyg is a static detector, both are powered by 3x AA rechargeable batteries. All devices operate at 384kHz.

π•pistrelle and pippyg have a companion app "pipistrelle" to configure recording times and set geolocation.

The USB microphone has a companion iOS App "Bat Detector", which records full-spectrum and can simultaneously heterodyne and time expand.

Each device costs under $25 (GBP £20) when built 10-off. For those unwilling to take on home / lab electronics assembly, π•pistrelle and pippyg are now available assembled and tested at shop.smithrobotics.co.uk
