Crocodiles are uniquely influenced by their environment and serve as indicators of environmental contamination and ecosystem health, but observing them in the wild and managing their conservation is challenging. As efforts to recover their populations increase, so does the potential for negative interactions with humans. Therefore, our current research draws upon movement and behavioral ecology principles—using remote sensing technology as a tool for crocodilian monitoring and a means of understanding their behavior and relationship with the environment to inform sustainable conservation and coexistence strategies.
