More mapping regions completed on Allen Coral Atlas!

Hi Remote Sensing & GIS folks,

The Allen Coral Atlas is proud to announce three new mapping regions: Great Barrier Reef & Torres Strait, Western Australia, and Central Indian Ocean! This brings us to over 337,000 km2 mapped, and nearly 70% of the world’s shallow coral reefs completed.

All Atlas data can be downloaded from the website for free, so you can use them on the GIS platform of your choice. Download options are available for benthic and geomorphic layers, satellite imagery, bathymetric composite layer, and quartly turbidity monitoring tif.

Want to learn more about how to use the Atlas? Check out our online course developed in partnership with The Nature Conservancy: Remote Sensing and Mapping for Coral Reef Conservation.

And see our new Resources page with an updated FAQ and more guidance for how to make the most of the Atlas.
