We're only a few days out from the SCB International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2017), which will be held in Cartagena, Colombia this year from 23rd-27th July.
The program has just been released and it's full of exciting tech workshops, talks and events. I've heard from a lot of members that they are planning on attending (unsurpisingly!), so it would be great to meet you and hear about what you're going to be doing at the conference. If you're running a training session, showcasing your work in a presentation, hosting a knowledge cafe or are simply open to meeting up with other members, jump in below to introduce yourself and flag anything you're involved in.
While we were at the IUCN World Conservation Congress last year, most evenings a group of WILDLABS members met up for a dinner or a drink (mostly organised in a pretty ad hoc way over whatsapp). I imagine we'll be gathering informally like this throughout the conference, but I could also organise a WILDLABS meetup for a specific evening, so I'd love to guage interest in this - let me know in your response if it's something you'd be keen to join?

Okay, so (obviously), I'm going be attending! My formal conference activities include:
- Saturday 22nd: Conservation Technology Think Tank: shaping the future of technology for conservation - attending and possibly giving a run through of WILDLABS during the workshop
- Sunday 23rd: EFN Grantee Workshop - running a 1.5h session about Building and Taking Advantage of Digital Networks
- Tuesday 25th, 17-18:30 (Hall de exposiciones) Hosting Knowledge Cafe with @efegraus and @Alasdair - Thinking outside the Network: Broadening participation in conservation technology (please come along, we want to hear your ideas)
- Tuesday 25th: 19:30- onwards, EFN, CLP and WFN Networking Social, (20:30 onwards all ICCB delegates are invited to join for drinks, food, music and networking)
- Thursday 27th: 10:30-11:30 session (Barahona 2), Giving talk: 'WILDLABS.NET Networking on Conservation Technologies to Enhance Conservation Outcomes'
I'm looking forward to meeting lots of you, hearing about the great work you're doing, and focusing on future directions and applications for conservation tech.

Hello Stephanie...Really happy to see WILDLABS at ICCB and would love to attend a WILDLABS meeting and share ideas, projects and laughs personally during the congress.

Folks on this thread might be interested in a symposium at ICCB on Monday afternoon about creating a set of spatial data standards for sharing information about conservation projects and programs. Happy to discuss further at any WILDLABS get together -- or come by the Open Standards / Miradi Software booth.

Hi Nick and Nuno,
Thanks for flagging your talks, and I'm looking forward to meeting both of you sometime this week! Nick, your session sound very interesting (and answering a real need!) - I'll definitely be putting it into my plan for monday. Are you aiming to make headway on the actual standards during the symposium, or is that a future step? Do you have any plans about sharing out what you discuss/achieve during the symposium? Perhaps you could give a short account of the
Nuno - we've already been speaking over on twitter, and I'm excited to meet you here and hear about your jaguar work!
Seems like Monday is going to be a pretty heavy tech day, as I think I'm now also giving a talk sometime during the tech symposium that day as well.
The conference is kicking off with two full day tech workshops tomorrow, which is such a great way to start the week! I'm anticiapting connecting with lots of current (and future :) ) members tomorrow, and that we'll likely go out for a drink or dinner after the workshop(s). The goal being to coordinate between ourselves so that members from the camera trapping workshop and tech think tank participants end up in the same place. Will share details of what is happening tomorrow - anyone (regardless of if you're at a workshop), will be welcome!
