For those who may not be aware, Working Dogs for Conservation (with support from the Elephant Crisis Fund) published a really valuable assessment in 2015 of detection and tracking dog programs in Africa. The Review Team conducted site visits at 5 canine programs in Kenya and 4 in South Africa. An online survey was also sent out to practitioners at other known canine programs in Africa. The review team used findings to identify markers of success, and to determine best practices that could be adopted across programs, organizations, and regions. Recommendations are worthy of note.
