About Skylight:

Skylight supports the monitoring, control, and surveillance of suspicious behaviors that may indicate illegal fishing, pollution, trafficking, or other maritime crimes. More than 50 countries use Skylight today to monitor their waters, including navies, coast guards, police, fisheries and parks agencies. We have a large network of non-governmental, international, and commercial organizations who partner with us to support government authorities. Skylight has both a browser-based interface and an Application Programming Interface (API), making it possible to access Skylight data in other systems with a shared mission to improve maritime security and reduce fisheries crime. 

About the Job (Narrative): 

Skylight’s growth has been phenomenal the past couple years. The Partner Relationship Manager will be responsible for supporting and nurturing the relationships developed as part of that growth and providing ongoing support for all current partners in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Additionally, they will develop new opportunities as they arise. A great candidate will be responsive to partner interests and requirements, helpful in identifying implementation and funding partners to support country partner programs, and proactive in supporting ongoing projects, such as facilitating high quality stories and feedback to drive continued improvement of Skylight. This work will involve virtual and in-person meetings, site visits, demonstrations, engagement with technology organizations also supporting a partner, and working as part of the Skylight Product team. AI2’s business processes must be adhered to, including capturing all information into CRM systems. 

This role involves the whole cycle of partnership management from closing new prospects and kicking off projects to providing training and continued support. Travel is a prerequisite and expected to be as much as 50% of the time. Most work will be focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, but some interaction will be required to suit other time zones, particularly Seattle, WA, where our principles are based. 

What You’ll Need: 

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Partner Relationship Management - The primary responsibility is ongoing support for all current partners in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Duties include: 
    • Establish and maintain regular communication 
    • Work with Skylight Implementation Partners to help them support our users and country partners
    • Proactively identify gaps in existing engagements and identify implementation or technology partners who may be able to fill those gaps, and engaging them to support the partner’s success
    • Support user research and feedback to help drive Skylight’s product evolution, working closely with the Skylight Product Managers, including scheduling focused sessions for conducting user research and gathering user feedback (e.g. about recently released features) 
    • Inform key users when changes or updates are made to the platform
    • Work with the Skylight Communications team to develop case studies of Skylight use 
  • New Partnership Development - While maintaining existing relationships is of highest priority, this role will include the development of new relationships leading to new deployments of Skylight and the expansion of Skylight’s impact to new countries and agencies in the LAC region. Duties include:
    • Provide demos of Skylight and help the potential partner assess to suitability of Skylight to meet their needs
    • Conduct assessments of the support required to make the new site successful, how much impact we are likely to achieve by engaging that site based on level of impact possible, will and capacity to deliver on the potential impact and the best way for Skylight to integrate into existing processes and/or technologies of the potential partner. 
    • Proactively identify needs and bring in the appropriate implementation partners who can fill those needs as part of deploying Skylight
    • Maintaining up-to-date records in customer relationship management systems 
    • Completing compliance forms 
  • Onboarding and Training - this role will be responsible for assisting Skylight Implementation partners to kick off Skylight deployment with new agencies or partners. Occasionally, this role will provide initial training where the implementation partner is unable to do so. Sometimes existing projects require re-onboarding and retraining due to turnover in staff. Duties include: 
    • Ensure all appropriate staff at country agency have access to Skylight 
    • Identify account administrator(s) and local points of contact to maintain the engagement longer term 
    • Support Skylight implementation partners to provide “buttonology” training on how to use all of the functions of Skylight, as well as understand the basics of artificial intelligence to be able to explain the implications for interpreting information Skylight presents 
    • Provide “train-the-trainer” trainings to implementing partners and technology partners that are integrating Skylight data 
    • Ensure users are aware of training materials and how to access them

Qualifications

  • A love for ocean health and conservation.
  • Experience working on technology products and applications.
  • Previous experience in the maritime space.
  • Previous experience with program and account management.
  • Have the ability to learn, understand and demonstrate technologies, including web apps, and smartphone apps, in the context of conservation.
  • Good spoken and written English skills
  • Fluent Spanish communication skills.
  • Previous experience collaborating with and/or presenting to government agencies. 
  • Must be able to communicate on various levels and across multiple cultures. Skylight users range from senior ranking officials in the navy and fisheries departments to marine biologists at NGOs and parks, to operational staff at government agencies. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Desktop computing skills, including G-Suite. 
  • Self-starter and able to independently execute programmatic strategies.

  • General partner management as directed by the Partner Director
  • Most work will be focused on Latin America, but some interaction will be required to suit other time zones, particularly Seattle, where our principals are based. 

Qualifications

  • A love of the natural world and a deep interest in protecting it! 
  • Technology and conservation  background. 
  • Previous experience working in conservation. Having a network in the area is a huge plus. 
  • Program and Account Management Experience. 
  • Have the ability to learn, understand and demonstrate technologies, including web apps, and smartphone apps, in the context of conservation 
  • Good spoken and written English and Spanish communications skills 
  • Desktop computing skills, including G-Suite. 
  • Must be able to communicate on various levels and across multiple cultures. Great customer service skills are required. 
  • Self-starter and able to independently execute programmatic strategies.
