Lead Software Engineer for ARISE

Job opening at ARISE, an innovative program in the Netherlands to build a digital infrastructure for biodiversity data and services

Deadline: 30 September 2022 - the deadline has passed.
Netherlands

At Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands, we are passionate about providing access to biodiversity information. We do this by building infrastructures for biodiversity data and services for researchers and the wider community.

Naturalis is leading the innovative program ARISE, in which we are developing a state-of-the-art infrastructure for biodiversity monitoring and species identification. With this infrastructure we will be able to identify all species in the Netherlands (and beyond?) from digital media, sensors, and DNA samples. ARISE is a multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary ambitious program driven by a diverse team of enthusiastic engineers, ecologists, technicians and data scientists.

ARISE is looking for a Lead Software Engineer. Do you want to contribute to building a data lakehouse infrastructure so that we can better understand and manage our natural world?

Come work with us!

And if you are wondering what this transformer looking thing is in the picture......this is a smart insect camera that we use to monitor our declining insect populations. It's a pretty cool device that is collecting tons of data - and we have many more of such sensors....how do we manage all that data and make it accessible? I hope you can help us to build that system!
