Overview:

Mara Elephant Project is looking to hire a developer to be based full-time in Nairobi at the Mara Elephant Project office located on Karen. The role will also require frequent field visits to the project HQ located in the Masai Mara, Kenya. Applicants will need to be highly-motivated and preferably have an interest in wildlife conservation. They should have excellent time-management and communications skills and be able to work well within larger team environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Linux/Unix
  • Git
  • Docker
  • Python
  • Django
  • Data Science libraries (Pandas, Numpy, Jupyter, etc. )
  • Geospatial libraries (Shapely, GeoPandas, Leaflet, Rasterio, etc. )

Minimum Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 4 years working as a professional Python developer
  • Experience working in development team environments and using approaches like scrum and Jira
  • Experience managing code projects

Job Description:

The developer will be responsible for ongoing development, management and community support for three projects including performing code reviews, handling pull-requests, and working with a larger open-source community. The developer will help manage the product road maps and task back-logs using Jira. The developer will also provide community support.
