Closing soon: WILDLABS State of Conservation Tech Survey 2022

Last year, WILDLABS published the first global, community-sourced assessment of the State of Conservation Technology, which evolved from our annual community survey. Take the 2022 survey to help us build from this baseline to track trends and shape the future of our rapidly evolving community and sector.

About the research

In 2020, WILDLABS partnered with researchers at Colorado State University to evolve our annual survey into a comprehensive assessment of the State of Conservation Technology. Our work - which included triangulating survey findings through focus group discussions with 50 leading experts - was published late last year in Conservation Biology and featured in leading media outlets including the New York Times, The Hill, and Mongabay. It has also since informed decision-making at leading international non-profit organizations and government bodies and was the basis for a recent UN event on new conservation technologies and knowledge systems to support the SDGs and post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Explore last year's research release highlights:

  • Read the open-access academic publication
  • Explore more of the data through our interactive report
  • Check out the feature in the New York Times, showcasing projects from across our community!
  • Take this year's survey to help us continue the research

Recognizing the influence of this research and the massive opportunity to harness this community's collective experience, our goal now is to build from this baseline annually and collect a longitudinal dataset that tracks trends and helps shape the future of the rapidly evolving conservation technology sector.

To do this, we need your help. Please take a few minutes to complete this year's questionnaire and share it widely throughout your networks - the broader diversity of individuals we reach, the better we can capture where conservation technology really stands and what is needed.

Survey details

In this survey, we'll be asking for your thoughts on the technologies you work with, as well as broader questions on challenges facing the conservation technology sector and opportunities for addressing them.

As always, this survey is also your opportunity to tell us about your experiences engaging with the WILDLABS community. We want to know what aspects of our community and programming you find valuable, how they contribute to your work, and what you would like to see us prioritize for the future - particularly relating to our new platform!

The survey is designed to take about 15 minutes to complete. Please keep in mind that your participation is voluntary and that your responses will remain confidential. Follow this link to access the survey and consent information, and let us know if you have any questions.

As always, thank you for your help!
