#AGU22, where Science Leads the Future, will take place in Chicago and online everywhere on 12th-16th December. Submit your abstract by 3rd August, for the Global Environmental change session on: Applications of Earth Observations for Addressing Environmental and Development Challenges in Africa, to meet the global Earth and space science community to share findings, connect, and advance the field

American Geophysical Union 22 Fall Meeting

AGU (American Geophysical Union) Fall Meeting is the most influential event in the world dedicated to the advancement of Earth and space sciences. Every year, AGU Fall Meeting unites the Earth and space science community to share findings, connect like-minded scientists from around the world, and advance our profession and shared passion for the impact of science.

Advance your science and join more than 25,000 attendees from more than 100 countries by submitting an abstract.

#AGU22, where Science Leads the Future, will take place in Chicago and online everywhere 12-16 December.

Abstracts should focus on:

  • new scientific results
  • enabling Earth and space science or its application, and/or
  • the contribution of Earth and space science to society.

Submit Your Abstract for the Global Environmental Change Session on:

GC017 - Applications of Earth Observations for Addressing Environmental and Development Challenges in Africa

Recurring extreme events and climate change across Africa have fueled food insecurity, destroyed critical infrastructure, caused loss of human lives and suffering, and degraded environmental quality and services. These impacts are experienced differently by various social groups and by women, and these differences should be incorporated into EO research and analysis. In a world of increasing scientific capabilities, such phenomena have been observed by orbiting environmental satellites, and simulated using a wide range of physical models. These have contributed to a growing body of data, tools, products, and services available to African decision-makers for addressing such challenges. The purpose of this session is to examine the impacts of recent Earth observation-related research efforts which help to address development challenges and promote societal benefit across the continent. Submissions are welcome from researchers, networks, and practitioners, focusing on how Earth observation data are and can be used to address environmental and development challenges in Africa. Submissions with a gender or socially inclusive focus are encouraged.

Guidelines for submitting the abstract can be accessed here:

Deadline: Abstract submissions are due by 3 August (23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT).
