Program Officer - Bioacoustics, WILDLABS

Come join our team! We're looking for a Program Officer to join the WILDLABS Community, hosted by WCS in Argentina. This role will support our research program, with the chosen candidate leading our horizon scanning exercises to identify innovations in the field of bioacoustics. We are looking for someone with a strong background in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, using bioacoustics technologies, and oral and written fluency in English and Spanish. The Role

  • Position: Analyst of the Bioacoustics Research Program
  • Reports to: Regional Conservation Technology Specialist
  • Location: Hybrid – WCS Argentina
  • Country: Argentina
  • Dedication: Full time
  • Duration: 18-months

This role will support an applied research program through collaboration between WCS and WILDLABS that evaluates how new technologies are being used for the conservation of biodiversity in Latin America. The Program Officer will lead horizon scanning exercise to identify innovations in bioacoustics and leverage the findings to catalyze progress toward harnessing their potential by addressing funding needs and collaboration opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Natural Sciences, Wildlife, Environmental Studies, or similar. 
  • Experience in Bioacoustics Research (5 years desirable).
  • Mixed methods social science research skills (valued).
  • Direct practice in Conservation/bioacoustics technology.
  • Competence in quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Work with goal orientation and time management.
  • Experience in Analysis, organization and innovation.
  • Oral and written command of English and Spanish.
  • Flexibility to accommodate an international team and work in multiple time zones.
  • Willingness to make regional trips (Latin America), up to 25% of the dedication.
