pneumatic artificial muscle applications in conservation tech?

Hi all! I am a mechanical engineer working in the Aerospace Engineering department at a University, and I have the opportunity to take over a graduating colleague's research in pipe-crawling/burrowing robots. With the use of pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs), these robot arms can create anchoring forces that then allow for peristaltic motion. I would like to apply this research to conservation or climate change. Does anybody have any ideas or know of any similar projects in the conservation tech space? Open to any and all ideas or resources, and I'm happy to provide more information! TIA!
