About the Event
To improve the knowledge of large predators in the Mara, the presentation will share interdisciplinary predator research targeted at lions and cheetahs within the Maasai Mara habitat and Kenya’s most closely monitored lion and cheetah populations, in terms of robust and consistent density estimates for the last decade. The talk will also highlight the transformative potential of community engagement initiatives, showing how the programme has helped the local community develop a greater understanding and appreciation of these majestic predators through Human Wildlife Conflict mitigation efforts, appreciation of predators within the ecosystem, conservation education, and linking conservation science with inclusive community engagement.
