Innovation and technology are revolutionizing the way we protect and use forests as the world faces unprecedented challenges threatening human well-being and nature. With 10 million hectares of forest lost to deforestation and approximately 70 million hectares affected by fires annually, technological innovations are needed for early warning systems for fires and forest loss, and to enable sustainable commodity production.

This year on March 21, the Food and Agriculture of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates International Day of Forests with the theme “Forests and innovation: New solutions for a better world” and is hosting an event, “How innovation is driving change in forestry.”

As part of this event, join us for a technical panel where we will be discussing the role of innovation within the regulatory landscape and how technical solutions can help to overcome data and smallholder challenges.

Interpretation will be available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian.
