Seeking Host Organisations for Travel Scholarship Application

Hi all,

I'm Eva, a final year undergraduate studying Joint Honours Biology and Geography at the University of St Andrews.  I've recently joined the WildLabs community in search of organisations or teams that may be interested in hosting me as I put together a project proposal for a travel scholarship grant offered by my University and the R&A.  If successful, the grant will award up to £15,000 for travel, accommodation, and subsistence for a project taking place between June 2024 and September 2025.  If I were hosted by a team, I would therefore be covering the finances of joining.  More information on the grant can be found here: RandA International Scholarship - Alumni and supporters - University of St Andrews (st-andrews.ac.uk) .

Over the course of my degree, I've developed an interest in movement ecology and biogeography in the face of environmental change and increasing human activity.  I've taken several GIS methods classes during my degree and next semester I will complete my undergraduate dissertation using GISci methods for movement ecology.  Consequently, I am looking for projects and organisations which could offer me opportunities in the field and to develop my analysis skills.  I'm especially interested in glaciated and marine landscapes but seeking opportunities not exclusive to these environments!  As the project proposal requires an output, part of this would be photography which may also be of interest to field teams.

If anyone has any questions, pointers, or just would like to have a chat, please reach out - I'd love to hear from you!  You can reach me either on WildLabs or via my email: [email protected] .

Hi Eva,

Me and my colleagues run a small NGO based on Yogyakarta in Indonesia, although our projects are spread around the country. One of our active project is working with the movement ecology of Sunda gharials in Berbak-Sembilang National Park. One of the other is for Malayan Giant Turtle conservation using one-plan approach, which we are planning to start in situ phase. We can't give you promise about anything, but are able to be the host organization and would love to talk the opportunity!

Cheers,

Dhanu
