Presentation opportunity: Text analysis for conservation (NACCB 2024)

Hi folks! Happy 2024 and thanks in advance for your patience in case I over-used tags. If you’re using any form of natural language processing to analyze problems related to conservation, I wanted to share an opportunity to present your work at the North American Congress for Conservation Biology (NACCB, Vancouver, June 23-28 2024). Amrita Gupta and I are co-organizing a symposium entitled “Analyzing text data for conservation problems and action”.

  • We have 1-2 more 15 minute presentation slots available.
  • If you’re interested and would like to learn more, please get in touch with me ASAP via DM or email ([email protected], deadline: January 20).
  • I’d also be happy to share more information with you if you know folks that I should contact.
  • We’re especially interested in research on the following topics:
    • 1) the barriers to using technology for conservationists, and
    • 2) additional real-world case studies using NLP such as tracking discourse or attitudes toward species or other environmental entities, analyzing reports of wildlife harvesting, or corporate disclosures for environmental impact (though this latter list is certainly non-exhaustive).

Sincerely,

Char & Amrita
