SURAKHSYA Portal for Human-Elephant Conflict - any updates?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into proven systems for managing human-wildlife conflict, particularly focused on early warning systems. I'm keen to hear of any examples from your work, so jump into that thread if you can feed back good examples that could be applied to new projects.

The Surakhsya portal for human-elephant conflict is one interesting example.

  • Surakhsya Portal: It is a National Portal on Human elephant conflict (HEC) that aims to collect real time information & manage conflicts on a real time basis to set data collection protocols, data visualization tools and data transmission pipelines.
  • Significance: This will enable policy-makers to use data for policy formulation and for preparation of Action Plans for mitigation of conflicts.

I'd like to learn more about the portal and how it's working, but the only information I can find is about the launch of this in 2020 and then... nothing. Is it because the system was quietly wrapped up? Or has it continued on and is just quitely working behind closed doors? Does any one have an information about what happened here?

(Feel free to DM me if you're not comfortable dropping a comment below - I'm not sure how sensitive this project is?)

Thanks for your help!

Steph
